"Human use of fossil fuels is contributing greatly to global climate change. Could renewable biologically-based fuels be important climate-neutral energy sources for the future? Biofuels, particularly ethanol, are becoming multi-billion dollar businesses.

"This course will explore the biology and technology of diverse biofuels, their potential environmental benefits and pitfalls, and the economic and political issues surrounding them in the US, Europe, and developing nations."
