GSBI, part of SCU's Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship, supports solutions to problems for people living in poverty worldwide. Health solutions include blood transfusion pumps, sanitation devices, "solar suitcases" for birthing, medical screening, etc.

On April 7, 2015, Supervisor Cortese, President of the Board of Supervisor, directed the Health & Hospital Administration to conduct an assessment of the Health of Children in Santa Clara County.

The goal of the assessment is to provide a countywide profile of behavioral health, preventive health and medical health status of children in Santa Clara County with a focus on the racial/ethnic disparities. The report can serve as a valuable tool for policy makers, foundations, non- profits, researchers, elected officials, and government agencies that want a better understanding of the health of this important population. Special studies focused on the health of children in our county reinforce the vision of "Better Health for All”, because information can be used to select the most salient priority areas and work with stakeholders to improve the health of children in Santa Clara County.

Silicon Valley foundation that works with community partners, including Santa Clara University, to find health solutions. Provides services and awards grants in three areas: Healthy Living, Healthy Aging, Healthy Communities.

The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development's Healthcare Workforce Development Division page for Maps, GIS, and Data. HWDD reviews California's counties Medical Service Study Areas (MSSAs) to assess population density, provider-to-population ratios, poverty levels, and public health indicators for eligibility to receive federal assistance for health care through federally designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA). The federally designated Medical Service Study Areas (MSSAs) are utilized by HWDD programs to determine funding through analysis of sites in underserved areas.

The Center--a model--works to eliminate racial and ethnic health disparities. The site has tools and reports, including their Disparities Data Report (Resources tab > Report).

This global health section of Center for Disease Control's website highlights CDC's global programs, such as malaria and parasitic diseases; provides global health news; plus a resources link.

The European Union's site provides documents on key health-equity outcomes, EU policy papers related to health, case studies, etc.

Focusing on the world's underserved, Global Health Council includes governments, NGOs, academic institutions, and corporations. Topics include malaria, TB, STIs, "neglected" diseases such as schistosomiasis, etc. Each topic has a bibliography.

From the Kaiser Family Foundation, this global health gateway offers fast health facts on countries worldwide, demographics, income; compares country health stats; provides global health news shorts.

From the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, GlobalHealth.gov covers topics such as water supply and waterborne illnesses; mother/child health; refugee health; etc.

MIT's site presents health projects in more than a dozen resource-poor countries, business model case studies, a toolkit, and reading lists on global health.

WHO's site on Social Inequalities in Environment and Health includes papers on socioeconomic conditions: recommendations and tools; reports on environmental and health risks; and a report on the social determinants of health.
