FINDING BOOKS

You can find many good books about fashion and clothing by doing a Subject search in OSCAR and typing "clothing and dress" or "fashion."  To find books on specific articles of clothing, type the name of the garment (for example, "shoes" or "hijab").  If you are looking for books on what people wore at certain times or in particular places, type "costume."  You will then be able to browse through a large selection of books organized by their specific subject matter (such as "Costume - United States - History" or "Costume - African Americans - Southern states").

If you do not find books on your topic this way, do an Advanced search in OSCAR and try typing in various ways of describing your topic.  Once you find some books that look like what you want, click on the Subject links that appear in the full records for those books, and you will probably find even more books on the same topic.
