Below is a list of general search engines and indexing sites for government information. In many cases these sites search across various government agencies. This list is by no means comprehensive, but rather a starting point for genearl research. - USA.govUSA.gov is the U.S. Government's official web portal. It is an easy-to-search, free-access website designed to give you a centralized place to find information from local, state, and US Government Agency websites.
- FDsys: America's Authentic Government InformationThe Federal Digital System, replaces the former GPO Access site. FDsys provides free online access to official Federal Government publications.
- Catalog of U.S. Government PublicationsThe Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) is the finding tool for federal publications that includes descriptive records for historical and current publications and provides direct links to those that are available online. Users can search by authoring agency, title, subject, and general key word, or click on "Advanced Search" for more.
- American FactfinderAccess 1990 and 2000 Census Bureau Information fast and efficiently.
- Browse topicsBrowse government information by subject.
- FedworldAccess to thousands of US Government web sites, more than 1/2 million US Government documents, databases and other information products.
- GPO BookstoreFederal information products available for sale through GPO.
- GPO Access New Electronic TitlesRepresents new additions to the Federal Depository Library Program Electronic Collection during the most recent four weeks.
