Course Description:
Introduction to health psychology theory, research, and practice, with a special focus on health promotion and health behavior change. Topics include: models of health and illness; biopsychosocial factors in illness; personality, health, and coping; social support and health; health assessment; models and strategies for health behavior change, including Prochaska’s stage model and motivational interviewing; issues and preventions with specific health behaviors; and health promotion in the workplace and other settings.
