Course Description: An introduction to some of the competing theories, paradigms, and methods used to analyze politics. After a general discussion of the philosophy of science—especially the debate about whether a "science" of politics is possible—students examine various approaches to the study of politics, including case studies, historical analysis, formal theories, and statistical models.
