-learning happens when students integrate new information, ideas, and methods of thinking and behaving into their unique experience and knowledge base
-creating effective active learning experiences should be guided by empathy for students, and grounded in experience and pedagogical knowledge
-assessment of student achievement of learning outcomes should inform iterations on the design of lesson plans, assignments, and assessments
When I develop exercises for information literacy instruction sessions, I prioritize the student experience to maximize learning opportunities, and to create connections with students. I build assessment tools into every session so I can iterate on the exercises I’ve developed in order to make them more engaging and effective.
