Library and Learning Commons Services Update - COVID-19

Information on library and learning commons services during COVID-19.

Picking Up, Renewing and Returning Items

The Library’s open stacks have re-opened for browsing. Items in the open stacks can be retrieved directly from the stacks or be requested as detailed below. Items in the ARS need to be requested.

Requesting Items

The SCU Library offers access to physical materials in its collection, through Link+ and also through interlibrary loan.

  • SCU Library Materials: SCU Library materials can be requested through the library catalog, OSCAR or OneSearch. For items that can be requested, follow the "Request This Title" or "Request from ARS" link to submit your request. If you find an item in the catalog that you would like to borrow, but there is no option to request the item, please contact the Help Desk (, 408-554-5020) for further assistance.
  • LINK+: LINK+ allows for borrowing of books from other libraries throughout California and Nevada. You may search and submit requests directly through the LINK+ catalog or begin your search in OSCAR or OneSearch, then select LINK+ from within your search results.
  • Interlibrary Loan Items: Items not in the SCU Library collection or available through LINK+ may be obtained through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). Books, book chapters and articles can be requested through your Interlibrary Loan Account.

You will receive an email notice once a requested item(s) is ready to be picked up. Please allow one business day for SCU materials to be ready for pickup; LINK+ and ILL materials may take a few weeks to arrive.

Picking Up Items

Items may be picked up at the Library Help Desk when the Learning Commons is open (please note that a valid SCU ACCESS card or mobile credential is required to enter the Learning Commons). Items may also be picked up outside of the entrance to the Learning Commons by calling the Library Help Desk at 408-554-5020. Please bring your campus ID.

If you are unable to come to the Learning Commons entrance, please contact the Help Desk (, 408-554-5020) to make alternative arrangements.

Renewing Items

To check the status of your items or to renew your books online:

  • Go to My Library Account.
  • Once signed into My Library Account with your SCU Login, you will see a list of items currently checked out to you along with the current due date. If renewable online, you will see an option to renew the item.
  • Please use our 24/7 chat service if you any questions or problems renewing materials.

Returning Items
