Creating an Account through the Library

Follow the instructions below to sign up for a New York Times Academic Pass, which provides complimentary access to and eligible NYT apps.

  • Visit
  • Under Find School... Search for and Select "Santa Clara University - Santa Clara, CA"

You will be redirected to the New York Times Academic Pass registration page.

  • If you don't already have a account: Click Create Account and complete the fields using your email account
    • If you already have an Existing Account and/or are renewing your Academic Pass: Click the Already have an account? Log in here >> link to log into your account
  • A verification email will be sent to the email address provided, you must verify your email by clicking the link in the email to complete the sign up process
  • After confirming your email address an Academic Pass will be added to your account enabling unlimited to access when logging into your account

The NYT app is free to download and install. Visit the relevant App Store on your device to get access.

NYT Column in 1980s-1990s: Buenos Aires Journal

  • The NYT used to run a regular column called Buenos Aires Journal. This is an example of what you can find and follow when using advanced searching to then lead you to browsing.

  • There is an option called Timesmachine on some articles directly from the NYT website that shows you the original newspaper from a day in history.
