To find scholarly research on the web, you can of course use Google Scholar. But there are also web sites that provide free open-access to scholarly research. Check the following

 

Social Science Research Network
(SSRN) is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research. The site includes thousands of freely available research and working papers in the field of social sciences

 

Directory of Open Access Journal
Provides access to the full text of 2,200 journals. In addition 630 journals are searchable at the article level.

E-Scholarship Repository
Repository of scholarly research articles from the University of California

You may also want to look at FirstMonday, a very interesting peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to research about the internet. A search on "censorship" will retrieve interesting articles.
