The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) is the organization for Registered Dietitians (RDs). RDs are the food and nutrition experts. Find out if it’s time to seek the assistance of a registered dietitian.

This organization provides factual information to the public and conducts research on food, alcohol, health, the environment, and other issues related to science and technology.

The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) (part of the USDA) provides dietary guidelines for Americans.

"The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines provides guidance for choosing a healthy diet and focuses on preventing the diet-related chronic diseases that continue to affect our population. Its recommendations are ultimately intended to help individuals improve and maintain overall health and reduce the risk of chronic disease." (Quote from the guidelines).

Established by the Food and Agriculture Act of 1977 (Farm bill), the FNIC serves the professional community (including educators, health professionals and researchers) as well as consumers by providing access to a wide range of trustworthy food and nutrition resources from both government and non-government sources.

The objectives of the Atlas are to assemble statistics on food environment indicators to stimulate research on the determinants of food choices and diet quality, and to provide a spatial overview of a community's ability to access healthy food and be successful at doing so.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) checks to see that the nation's commercial supply of meat, poultry, and egg products is safe and correctly labeled and packaged.
