HIST133: History of Sexuality (Randall): Books

Books and how to locate them

On this page are examples of books related to the history of sexuality in Modern Europe.    To find more books related to your own topic, you can use OSCAR.

OSCAR is the online catalog for Santa Clara University. It includes all the books in our collection as well as other materials such as videos, DVDs, periodicals, and government documents.

Go to OSCAR and enter keywords describing your topic.  For example,  if you are interested in the persecution of homosexuals  in Nazi Germany, you could use the following keywords:

         Homosexual* and Nazi

         homosexual* and Third Reich

Note

*An asterisk at the end of a word, for example homoseual*, will pick up different endings such as homosexual, homosexuals, and homosexuality. .

*You can also use synonyms or related terms.  For example you can use Nazi or Third Reich.

* Some books are located in the Main Stacks on the Lower Level. Other books are in the Automated Retrieval System (ARS). Use OSCAR to request these books from the ARS.

Interlibrary Loan

If you search OSCAR for a particular title and find out that Santa Clara doesn't own the book you are interested in, you can use:

LINK+, a service which allows students and faculty to borrow materials from member libraries at several other colleges and public libraries, provided that those materials are not available at the SCU libraries.  Books borrowed through LINK+ should be available within 3 days.
