Journal Articles are also called Scholarly Articles or Academic Sources. One kind of Scholarly Article is called a Peer Reviewed Article.
If your instructor asks you to find journal articles or peer reviewed articles, you will want to use specialized databases to help you find articles on your topic.
Check out the list of databases below for our recommendations of where to start on your topic. These databases are good places to start with your research. There are a lot of available databases on history topics with more specialized areas, such as women's movements, or slavery and social justice. To see a complete list of the history related databases, go to the A-Z list of databases (by clicking on the Quick Links menu tab on the library front page and choosing "Databases"), and then click on the drop down menu on the left showing "all subjects". Scroll down in that menu until you find the History subject and click on that. You can check out the short descriptions of each history database to see what type of material is in it.
