Research and Reference Services

This guide provides information on Research and Reference Services you can expect from SCU Librarians.

Our Research and Reference Philosophy

Our Research and Reference services are grounded in the idea of Yes - we hear your question and we will find ways to answer your question to the best of our ability. Our goal is to connect our patrons to the answers that they need - be it an article, a book, citation support, etc. We aim to do this with a minimal amount of referrals - only what is appropriate.

Patrons should leave the interaction satisfied that their question was heard and that they have the resources to answer their question themselves. The service should provide instruction to the user about information sources, while also highlighting the resources that we offer that the user may not know about.

Santa Clara University Library's Research and Reference Program

In support of the research conducted on this campus by a variety of scholars and researchers, the University Library’s Research and Reference Program offers a variety of services and resources to support students, staff, and faculty in their research. We offer multiple ways for you to get your work done and to meet with a librarian for support.

For any questions you may have, please feel free to reach out to your subject librarian or to Andrew Carlos, Head of Research, Outreach, and Inclusion
