Currency - Is the information current? Check the website date
Although excellent .org, .com, .net sites exist, use the search engine's Advanced Search to get more
reliable results by limiting the domain name to .gov or .edu -- or use Google Scholar.
- AntWeb"Provides tools for exploring the diversity and identification of ants." Curators worldwide contribute, so a few species' descriptions are not in English. Includes images and maps.
- BugGuideThis online community of naturalists share information and images of insects and spiders in a user-friendly format. At the bottom of each webpage is a useful list of Internet References and Works Cited.
- California Plant PestsCA Dept. of Food and Agriculture’s list of plant insect pests offers a brief pdf on each species: hosts, damage, and images.
- CDC's Biology of MalariaThe U.S. Centers for Disease Control has an information-rich unit on malaria. This section covers the biology with a link providing detailed information on Anopheles mosquitoes.
- Invasive InsectsLists invasive and exotic insects in North America. Where available, provides links to further information on each species. From the University of Georgia's Center for Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health.
- Invertebrates of CaliforniaThis National Biological Information site provides links: CA endangered insects, with references; CA dragonflies, with online descriptions/photos for ~100 species; CA butterfly website; and more.
