ENGL 2A: The Game of Research (Jalal)

A Few Tips about E-Books

  • To access the full text of the eBooks, just click on the link in the record.
  • You will be asked to authenticate by entering your SCU Id and Password
  • When you find a book that sounds promising, go through the table of contents carefully to select the most relevant chapters for your topic.
  • You can read the book online and you can usually download a few chapters.  However, the actual number of pages you can download or print is not consistent among publishers.

How to Find eBooks

It might be useful to also look for ebooks if you are not on campus or would prefer to only find books online. This is the easiest way to filter your search to ebooks only.

  1. Go to the library home page (www.scu.edu/library).
  2. Click on the "Streaming Videos/eBooks" tab at the top. In the e-Books search box, enter keywords describing your topic.

For example: slave narratives

How to Find Books

OSCAR catalogs the library's print and electronic books, journals and other resources. If you find something that fits your topic and you are not onsite, you can request for the book to be delivered to your home. Learn more through the Library and Learning Commons Services Update - COVID-19 guide.
