Generative AI for Instructors from Academic Technology

On September 4, 2025, Academic Technology announced the launch of a new self-paced camino course for instructors on teaching with generative AI. The following information is from the original email announcement:

Academic Technology designed this course to support faculty across disciplines who want to explore how AI can be used to enhance instructional preparation—and student learning—in thoughtful, practical ways. Whether you are experienced with using generative AI and are looking for new ideas, or new to AI entirely, this course is a resource to support your teaching design.

What the course offers:

  • 10 hands-on modules on topics about AI in higher education, including prompting, assessment and formative feedback, and productivity to expedite course preparation.
  • Opportunities to experiment with SCU’s Gemini tool (or other tools such as ChatGPT that you may already be using).
  • Concrete deliverables in every module: Whether revising syllabus policies, drafting assignments, or generating feedback templates, you will start creating new materials in each module. You will also have a chance to share insights about AI with colleagues on campus.
  • Flexibility: Choose modules relevant to you, and complete them on your own time. The course is self-paced, and has no fixed due dates.

How it Works

Join the course, and review the course overview ("M0") to learn about how to complete the course. You can work at your own pace, with an anticipated completion time of 5-7 hours for five modules. Faculty of all appointment types will receive a $250 stipend upon completion of five modules in the course (but we hope you will complete more). Please note that QLs/SLs can only receive a stipend during periods of active employment. Feel free to reach out to Instructional Technology (caminosupport@scu.edu) with any questions.
