What is a Journal Article?

Journal Articles are also called Scholarly Articles or Academic Sources.  One kind of Scholarly Article is called a Peer Reviewed Article.

If your instructor asks you to find journal articles or peer reviewed articles, you will want to use specialized databases to help you find articles on your topic.

Below are a list of databases in the library that are good places to start your research.  You can also search for scholarly articles in the entire library catalog from the home page by clicking on the databases tab above the search bar.  You can also check out other databases used for History research (or other topics) by going to the Quick Links tab on the main page and choosing "databases".  This will take you to an A-Z list of databases.  There is a drop down menu for subjects so you can check out a number of databases for different subjects.
