This is a reliable source of current information on national level elections worldwide back to 1998.It is compiled by IFES, the International Foundation for Election Systems. It is also a great place to get names of parties and officials. Click on COUNTRIES. Select your country to see the recent elections. Click on the most recent election. You'll get names of the major parties and their leaders.

IDEA is an international organization created to support democracy worldwide. A variety of resources toward that end are to be found here as well as statistical sources and analyses useful to students. For example, you can find voter turnout from 1945 to date by clicking on DATA & TOOLS in the band at the top. A simple search will give you 10 or so years. To go further back, get more details, you need to do an advanced search.
