To Find Basic Information on a Film

This site will provide basic information on films:  director and cast, plot summary, synopsis,  awards received, filming locations, user reviews, external reviews, technical specs, budget and box office numbers, etc. 

To Find Film Reviews

On web sites such as the Internet Movie Database,  Movie Review Query Engine, or Rotten Tomatoes, you can find many user reviews (or audience reviews), as well as newspaper and popular magazine reviews, but very few in-depth  reviews or critical analyses written by film specialists.  Those are published in specialized film magazines and journals.  To find them, use the following databases:

Just enter the title of the film you are researching in one search box. Then enter the last name of the director in the second box.  For example:

If you don't find an in-depth review or analysis of your film in the two databases above, then check for a review in the New York Times or the Los Angeles Times. They are usually very good.
