SCU Library Assessment Dashboard

Learning Commons usage

Every hour that the Learning Commons is open, library staff patrol the floors and count the number of people present. The information collected is used for a variety of purposes including tailoring the space to fit the needs of our users.

During undergraduate term hours the library is open to all for 106 hours per week.

On nights when the library is open past 11pm, a current SCU Access card is required to enter the building. This takes the number of hours that the library is open and available to SCU affiliates to 121 hours per week.

During Summer term and between terms the library is open shorter hours with an average of 75 hours per week.

The Learning Commons has 26 private study rooms which may be booked by SCU students, staff and faculty.

Excluding the private study rooms, there are over 1,000 seats available.

The most popular day to spend at the library is the Monday of finals week in any term

The most popular day of the week is Tuesday, but if you want to enjoy that quiet quiet library feel, come on a Saturday morning.

The busiest time of day is mid-afternoon, so if you want company, arrive around 4pm.
