Search Tips

Searching can be a messy process; designing a search strategy can make finding good sources (articles, books, videos, etc.) easier.  Below are some suggested steps for developing a research strategy.

Finding good articles and books on your topic can be difficult. Watching these brief videos will help get you started.

Step 2: Selecting the right database

Once you have a decided on some search words, select a database to find either books or articles. For books, use the OSCAR library catalog.  For articles, select a library database, starting with some of the recommended databases  on this guide.  You can also browse the Database by subject list on the library web page.

Step 4: Find Articles

Once you have selected a database, use your search words to search for scholarly articles.

Step 5: Repeat Your Search

Sometimes you will need to search multiple databases, modify your topic or think of new search words.

Step 6: Organize Sources
