Part 1: In this Google Deck, you will pair up with someone (yes, find a partner!). Individually, you will answer these 3 questions on a single slide deck (note that one slide deck has two sections, one for each person):
- Using the resources listed on the PRIMARY SOURCES section of the libguide, identify one source (e.g. Calisphere, OAC, California Newspaper Digital Collections, etc.) to explore. Using that source, identify a potential topic of interest (you will use this to find a scholarly article).
- What kind of primary sources did you encounter? Briefly describe the primary source.
- Using the journal California History or any of the databases in the SCHOLARLY ARTICLES tab, find one promising research paper on a topic of interest. Copy and paste the article title, journal title, author and date of publication.
Part 2: Spend the last 8-10 minutes reflecting with your partner. Consider the following questions:
- Was it easy to navigate the primary source databases?
- Were you able to find something of interest?
- If so, what types of primary sources jump out at you the most?
- Can you identify something in your findings that may have influenced modern societal values or movements?
