How to access the Economist through the University Library

The University Library provides access to The Economist to Santa Clara students, faculty, and staff.

Use your account to access The Economist by logging in through:

Sign up for Access through the Library

Follow the instructions below to sign up for access to The Economist through the University Library.

  • Visit sign-up link
  • Enter your First Name, Last Name, SCU Email address, a strong Password, Job Title, and Industry, then click the "Create account" button:

    • The Economist requests Job Title and Industry during account setup primarily to tailor content recommendations based on your professional or academic interests. It is occasionally used to segment users for relevant offers or newsletters.

      For student accounts, the recommended defaults are below. These values cannot be changed after account creation.

      Job Title: Student
      Industry: Higher Education or Education

  • You will receive the following confirmation message. You must verify your email address to ensure access.

    You've been given a subscription to The Economist
     
  • Locate the verification email and click the "Verify" button:

  • When your email address has been verified, you will receive the following message:
    Your details have been verified
     
  • Use your account to log in at Economist.com, through the iOS App, or through the Android App
