ANTH 1: Introduction to Biological Anthropology (Cruz)

Welcome!

Course Description

This course presents a survey of biological anthropology. We examine how humans have come to be the way that we are through the lens of evolution. We explore evolutionary forces and their effect on humans and our closest relatives. We also probe how our understanding of these processes came to be. To do this, the course first focuses on human variation, we then move into studying the theory of evolution and the forces that act upon populations to shape new species. We apply this knowledge upon our closest relatives, primates. In addition, we explore evolutionary forces and their effect on human ancestors. Throughout the course, we will encounter methods used in biological anthropology in the quest to provide answers to the areas described above.
