Research Guide for the students in Anth2

Find articles on your topic

Locating  Articles on Your Topic:

1)  If you are looking for a known  article:

Let's say you have found the citation for the following article in a bibliography:

Blakey, Michael, "Bioarchaeology of the African Diaspora in the Americas: Its Origins and Scope,"  Annual Review of Anthropology 30 (2001): 387-422.

All you have to do is use the "Journals and Magazines" finder on the library home page and enter the title of the journal (Annual Review of Anthropology) to see if the library has a print or online subscription to this title.  If we don't, you can order the article through the interlibrary loan service.

2)  If you want  to use databases to find articles on your topic, try the following ones:

(To get tips on searching databases, read the Searching Tips section first)

Anthropology and Social Sciences databases:

  • Anthropolgy Plus  (to access this database, you will be asked for a user id (your name) and a password (the library barcode on the back of your access card).
Because this database is specialized for anthropology, you have a better chance of finding  the actual archaelogical reports for your site.

Multidisciplinary databases:  (good for all topics)
