ENGL 1A is the first of a two-quarter sequence that invites you to practice critical thinking and academic writing. Throughout our coursework, we will consider the foundations of language and information using these questions as our guide:
To answer those questions, we will explore different reading strategies including reading rhetorically, reading to synthesize a conversation, and reading to reflect. Most of all, I want this class to provide you with the tools to think meta-cognitively (think about your thinking) about your writing process so that you will be successful for the rest of your college career. ENGL 1A is a 4 credit-unit course that fulfills the Foundations Core Requirement.
