In this session, you’ll learn about the free, open-source citation manager, Zotero. This introductory session is perfect for anyone new to citation managers or with limited experience with Zotero. The session will be helpful for anyone wanting to organize their research, and will be especially useful for Capstone students, grad students, and others embarking on larger research projects. Note: For best results, bring a laptop to this session. Attendees without one can still learn how to use Zotero online on one of the in-room computers.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover a single platform with over 800,000 open datasets, learn where to keep track of inflation and employment statistics, follow global public health trends, and find out all you ever wanted to know about New York City taxi trips but were afraid to ask. 
  • Act Now, Preserve Forever: Your Guide to Data Rescue Projects

Join the Library for this hands-on Data Rescue event, where attendees of all skill levels can learn about the Data Rescue Project and help preserve at-risk federal data!
  • Visual Storytelling with Python

    • Building off of Top 10 Open-Source Datasets, join us to learn enough Python to create simple visualizations using Open Source datasets. You don’t have to be an expert in Python - just be willing to learn. Walk away from the session with the confidence that you will be able to: 
      • Use MatPlotLib and Pandas to create simple charts and visualizations
      • Interpret charts for trends to make decisions or recommendations
