Shelfie Project- Part 1

Find a print copy of one of the magazines listed below for the date you were born.  Select an article related to the topic of this class and take a picture of you holding the article.

To find the print copy of a magazine, do the following:

1) Use the JOURNAL FINDER  (on the library web page.

2) Enter the title of the magazine

3) Click on the link:  "University Library Print Holdings"

4) Select the year you are interested in and request the volume from the ARS.

5) Pick up the print magazine from the shelf across the Library Help Desk.  It will be under your last name

List of Magazines:

Business Week, Ebony, Economist, Esquire, Money, Mother Jones, Ms., National Geographic, New England Journal of Medicine, New York, New Yorker  (1997-1998 only), Newsweek, Smithsonian, Times, Utne, Wired.

This guide is designed to help you find good resources for your project on a gender justice topic of your choice.    The emphasis is on finding reliable, academic sources  for your annotated bibliography and other assignments, using the library databases as well as the open web.

Shelfie Project - Part 2

Find a book relevant to your research topic and take a picture of yourself with the book.

To find your book, use OSCAR, the library online catalog and just enter keywords describing your topic.

Be aware that most of the recent books are in electronic format.  For this fun assignment, you may have to use an older book available in the stacks downstairs or in the ARS (automated retrieval system)
