Here you will find information about SCU's transformative agreements, agreements that allow SCU-affiliated authors to publish Open Access articles at no cost

Participating journals

All six society journals are eligible:

  • Microbiology
  • Access Microbiology
  • International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology
  • Journal of General Virology
  • Journal of Medical Microbiology
  • Microbial Genomics

What is the cost to the author?

No charge to author for articles published with the Society's standard CC-BY Creative Commons License

Who Can Publish?

Authors affiliated with Santa Clara University as stated in the accepted paper on the date of acceptance for publication, and identified as the corresponding author of the article accepted for publication, in one of the Microbiology Society journals. Author must provide @scu.edu institutional email address with submission.

Which article types qualify?

Any article accepted for publication where the corresponding author's stated affiliation is Santa Clara University

Is my research eligible?

Articles will be published under this agreement with an Open Access license when:

  • Authors are identified prior to publication on the basis of their institutional email domain, or institutional affiliation as listed in the file submitted for peer review; and
  • Authors are affiliated with the Institution on the date of acceptance for publication; and
  • Authors sign the appropriate Creative Commons license; and
  • Authors do not opt-out of publishing under an Open Access license
