Library Undergraduate Research Award

Evaluation Committee

The review committee will be composed of:

  • Two or three University Library representatives

  • One faculty member from Humanities or Social Sciences

  • One faculty member from Sciences or Engineering

Evaluation Criteria

A committee of faculty and librarians will judge entries on the evidence of the applicant's research strategy, process, and personal learning as demonstrated in the:

  • Submitted project (must be in English so reviewers can read it)
  • Summarized in the research essay
  • Reflected in the applicant's bibliography
  • Faculty support letter

Expectations for achievement will be commensurate with the requirements of the discipline. Committee members will utilize a rubric to evaluate submissions (see box on this page, titled Scoring Rubric). It is strongly recommended that you use the rubric as a guide when composing your research essay and that you send the rubric to the faculty member when requesting a letter of support.
